We are pleased to announce that Grand Prairie ISD Assistant Director of Fine Arts Lance Morse will serve as Acting Principal of the Grand Prairie Fine Arts Academy for the remainder of the school year beginning Monday, March 30, 2026.

Mr. Morse is currently serving his third year as Assistant Director of Fine Arts for Grand Prairie ISD. He taught and directed theatre for twenty-one years – working at Decatur High School, Plano Senior High School, and at Timber Creek High School in Keller ISD – before moving into his current role.  He has served several terms on the Boards of Directors of both Texas Educational Theatre Association and Texas Thespians. Lance was honored with the UIL’s Sponsor Excellence Award in 2008.

As a theatre director, his students’ work was recognized at multiple levels; most notably, they progressed to the UIL State One-Act Play contest five times, receiving one third place and one State Championship, and were chosen to represent excellence in American educational theatre as part of the American High School Theatre Festival at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Mr.  Morse received his undergraduate degree from West Texas A&M University and his Master of Education in Administration from Lamar University.

To maintain continuity, he will work directly with the school’s administrative team and the Area Chief for High Schools, Dr. Suzy Meyer.

Meetings to gather feedback on the characteristics that will be most valuable in the next leader of GPFAA will be held with staff and students during the week of April 13-17, 2026. Likewise, a survey will be sent to all parents on Monday, April 13, 2026, to gather their feedback as well.
