Performance Opportunities
Main Stage Musicals 2018 - Present
Our main stage musicals are performed in the Chambers Keel Theatre for a full four-day performance weekend.
The Main Stage Musical is one of the opportunities that allows the theatre arts strand to collaborate with the other six strands to produce a professional show over the course of a four-month rehearsal and preparation schedule.
Our Main Stage Musicals are adjudicated by "The Dallas Summer Musicals High School Awards" program, as well as the "Schmidt and Jones Awards".
Black Box Performances 2016 - Present
Our department produces four black box shows yearly that range from contemporary works to Moliere and Shakespeare, musicals, and children's shows. The season is chosen based upon student needs and availability.
This intimate space allows us the flexibility to transform the performance space into any type of theatre we wish.
Our black box acts as the hub for our theatre department. We model a working theatre; loading one show in after the next. Our students are exposed to the fast-paced energy all working theatres have. Every student is exposed to both the performance nature of a show, as well as the technical side. We believe in shaping a well-rounded artist, no matter the focus of concentration. Each student is exposed to design and construction elements in the fields of costumes, set, lighting, props and sound. Although each student may not be fully designing each show while still performing in it, they are still exposed to the terminology used in a working theatre which is vital to any actor or technician.
