Meet Our Directors

Alyssa Barber

Middle School Director

She earned her BFA in Painting and Drawing from the University of North Texas in 2016. It is her ultimate goal to preserve students’ sense of wonder and to help them find, create, and appreciate the endless beauty in the world and themselves. In addition to the middle school program, she also teaches high school art electives. Other than teaching and making art, her interests include cooking, boardgames, reading, sewing, spending time with family and close friends, and cuddling with her 2 kitties.

Sarah Fagan

High School Director

She is from Michigan, but now resides in Texas. She specializes in traditional works that span all contents and mediums. As an educator, Ms. Fagan is constantly growing and learning to improve techniques not only for herself but for her students. When she isn't spending time with her students, she enjoys spending time with her daughter Phoenix, playing video games, and reading.

Lena Rodriguez

High School Director

High School Painting & Drawing Director

Lena Rodriguez has been teaching art in GPISD since 2007 after working in the design field for five years. She has been at GPFAA since its inception as a school after working at Jackson, Reagan and GPHS. She received her B.F.A. in Graphic Design and Studio Arts and her M.Ed. in Leadership. She writes curriculum for The Art of Education University and presents professional development nationally. The difference between a student’s experience in her studio versus that of a traditional art classroom is that she leads and teaches her artists how to become individual thinkers that possess the technique and conceptual skills to express their personal story as an artist. Outside of school, Mrs. Rodriguez enjoys cooking, creating, and spending time with her children Mila, Lola, Ezra, Jacob, Thomas and husband Alex.
